The Elegant Covering

Few modern technologies can surpass the simplicity and elegance of an umbrella. At The Gazebo & Shade Centre, we've got all your umbrella needs covered across the Albury region and beyond.

Whether you want something for your home, swimming pool, large beer garden or park, our range of umbrella options has the perfect design for your needs. Available in a variety of styles and sizes, our umbrellas let you utilise full shade beneath their canopy or full sun when folded down.

Swing & Fold

These 5-metre and 4-metre octagonal umbrellas can be swung and folded from a central point, providing 360 degrees of potential shade protection. We provide swing and fold umbrellas with a powder-coated frame and commercial quality shade cloth cover. These covers can be up to 96% blockout, depending on your choice of colour.

Thanks to its sturdy design and practical longevity, the swing and fold umbrella is ideal for backyards, pools and more.

Cantilever Umbrella

With a rear pole, these umbrellas give you plenty of space to entertain underneath. They are ideal for alfresco dining, courtyards, spas, decks or domestic pools.

Our range is available in four metre square, five metre square and six metre octagonal diameters.

Fixed Centre Pole

Fixed centre pole umbrellas operate from a singular point. These umbrellas come in four metre, five metre, six metre or eight metre diameters, allowing you to encompass a variety of spaces.

These umbrellas are designed to stay in the up position. However, can be collapsed when not needed, making them suitable for residential and commercial areas. They are often seen in resorts, home entertainment areas, pool spaces and beer gardens.

6-Metre Square Extra Heavy Commercial Umbrella

This extra-durable umbrella is built tough with a powder-coated frame, PVC cover and strong design.

If you think your umbrella will be subject to difficult conditions, we recommend investing in our extra heavy commercial umbrella.

These large umbrellas are perfect for commercial and recreational areas such as schools, restaurants, beer gardens and street-facing areas.

Umbrella Additional Information

Our umbrellas are available in four metre, five metre, six metre or eight metre diameter. The swing and fold option has a full 360 degree swing ability.

We can install with a waterproof canvas or shade cloth and powder coat the pole to suit your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the best type of outdoor umbrella for windy areas?

In windy areas, heavy-duty commercial-grade umbrellas are recommended. Cantilever umbrellas are popular because they maximise shaded space, but they must be properly installed with engineered footings. Centre-post umbrellas with engineered footings often perform better in consistently windy conditions.

Fabric choice also matters. High-quality, UV-stabilised fabrics with strong stitching reduce the risk of tearing. Wind ratings provided by manufacturers should always be considered, and in extreme weather, umbrellas should be closed and secured. Proper installation are critical factors in ensuring stability and long-term durability.

  • How long do outdoor umbrellas last?

The lifespan of an outdoor umbrella depends on its quality, materials and exposure to environmental conditions. Commercial-grade umbrellas can last up to 15 to 20 years or more when properly maintained. High-quality fabrics are designed to resist UV degradation and colour fading, while powder-coated aluminium or galvanised steel frames offer corrosion resistance.

Regular maintenance extends lifespan significantly. This includes closing the umbrella during storms, cleaning the fabric periodically and checking fittings or moving parts. Lower-cost retail umbrellas typically have a much shorter lifespan due to lighter frames and less durable fabrics, especially in harsh Australian climates.

  • Are outdoor umbrellas waterproof?

Many outdoor umbrellas are water-resistant, but not all are fully waterproof. Most high-quality umbrella fabrics are designed to repel light to moderate rainfall while providing strong UV protection. However, during heavy or prolonged rain, water may eventually penetrate the fabric, especially if pooling occurs.

For areas requiring consistent rain protection, specialised waterproof fabrics are available, but they must be paired with appropriate design features to allow water runoff. It’s also important to ensure the umbrella is positioned at the correct angle so water does not collect in the canopy, which can cause stretching or structural stress over time.
