Frequently Asked Questions

  • What’s the difference between a gazebo and a pergola?

A gazebo is a fully roofed outdoor structure with a defined shape and complete overhead shelter, whereas a pergola typically has an open-slatted roof that provides partial shade. Gazebos offer more comprehensive protection from sun and light rain, making outdoor spaces usable in more weather conditions. Pergolas are often used as decorative frameworks for climbing plants or as lighter shade features, while gazebos serve as standalone outdoor rooms.

  • How big should a gazebo be for outdoor entertaining?

The ideal gazebo size depends on how you plan to use it. For a simple seating area with chairs and a small table, a gazebo around 3–4 metres wide may suffice. If you want space for a dining table, BBQ and lounge chairs, a larger structure – 5–7 metres or more – will provide comfortable coverage. Always allow space for circulation around furniture, and consider how the gazebo will fit with existing outdoor features like decks, paths or garden beds.

  • Do gazebos add value to a property?

Yes – gazebos can increase property value by enhancing outdoor living space and kerb appeal. They transform ordinary yards into functional extensions of the home, offering spaces for entertaining, relaxing or dining that attract potential buyers. A well-built gazebo with quality materials and thoughtful design can make a home more appealing and usable, which is particularly important in regions with strong outdoor lifestyles.
